Incredible place to stay, very friendly staff and beautiful surroundings. Wish we could have stayed longer!

In this peaceful setting, you feel like you're in the jungle. The slightly dated rooms don't detract from their charm, and they remain very comfortable. The pool is simply perfect. We highly recommend it.

I stayed at this resort during Chinese New Year, and overall my experience was below expectations.
Before booking, I communicated with the staff and was provided with reference photos. However, it appears that many of these photos were taken several years ago (around 5 years), showing the rooms and surroundings in a much better condition—clean, bright, and well maintained. Unfortunately, the actual experience did not match what was presented.
The lighting around the rooms was very poor. The area in front of the rooms was extremely dark at night, creating an uncomfortable and somewhat unsafe feeling. When I raised this concern, the staff explained that this area was near what used to be the “main entrance,” but it is no longer in use. This explanation was confusing, as it seemed the area had not been properly maintained for a long time. They also mentioned this was “European style,” describing it as quiet and dark, but in my opinion, this level of darkness is not comfortable or practical for guests.
When I requested additional lighting, I was told it could not be arranged because it was already nighttime (as remember, I was arrived around 8pm). I also asked to change rooms, but only lower-category options were offered than what I originally booked — not only cheaper, but also smaller rooms with smaller beds and lower capacity which were not suitable for my group, which was disappointing.
Cleanliness and maintenance were also concerns. One of the three rooms had a large number of red ants near the door. Grass and plants were overgrown very close to the rooms and along the corridor. In addition, there were unorganized water pipelines left exposed along the corridor, which made the environment look poorly maintained. There was also burning of dead trees directly in front of the rooms, which negatively affected the overall atmosphere.
At the last minute, after I repeatedly rejected one room due to the ants, the staff offered one family room as an alternative. I had to move all my family members and belongings into that room (two double beds for 9 people), as it was the only option to ensure everyone had a place to sleep. Meanwhile, I still had one booked room in use and another room left unused, which was not an ideal arrangement.
In conclusion, the resort should:
Update photos to reflect the current, actual condition
Improve room cleanliness and pest control
Better maintain the environment and surroundings
Upgrade lighting for safety and comfort
Provide more supportive and flexible customer service
Overall, the resort has potential, but significant improvements are needed to meet basic guest expectations.

We stayed almost a week at the Ratanakiri Phum Khmer Resort and had a very pleasant stay. The location is beautiful, the bungalow was lovely with a small terrace overlooking a stream. The pool is very large and enjoyable. The included breakfast is very good. The decor is beautiful, in a Khmer style. The owner is very attentive and responsive. He upgraded our room and helped us when we had a problem with our scooter. In short, we highly recommend it!

'An immense resort on the outskirts of Banlung. Super quiet, huge swimming pool, lakes, wooden bridges, a suspension bridge, hammocks, reception rooms... Really impressive. You can rent scooters and tuk-tuks. We opted for a day tour in a tuk-tuk with a local driver for 35 dollars, cheap. And finally, excellent cuisine, prepared on request, you need to order an hour in advance. The staff is very attentive.'

Thoroughly recommended. We spent three nights at Phnum Khmer Resort and were really happy there. Sytha, the owner went out of his way to help and accommodate. This included pick up and drop off from the bus stop, getting (pedal) bikes and helmets brought up from town in no time, and acquiring some googles for use in the brilliant 25m swimming pool. The location is about 2k out of Banlung amongst farmland and rubber tree plantations. Built in a traditional Khmer style it has a rural tranquility about it. The shaded patio area beside the pool is a great spot for drinks, meals and relaxing. It’s clean, well looked after and the food is excellent. Decent WiFi throughout.

Lovely nature-filled with a cause. We enjoyed our stay and we’re happy to speak with the owner and learn more about the great work he’s doing.
Each morning, we walked the grounds observing flowers and birds with a delicious breakfast waiting when we were done. We would be happy to return

Ratanakiri Phum Khmer Resort is a truly special place and a joy to stay at. Just outside of town, the resort is set on a gorgeous property that feels like a private park for guests, with bridges, moats, and peaceful paths to wander and explore. The atmosphere is calm, welcoming, and full of character. The staff were kind and accommodating, and the owner is genuinely impressive and deeply inspiring. He has built many schools for nearby village communities and continues to dedicate his time, energy, and resources to improving education for underprivileged children in Cambodian villages. Knowing that part of your stay directly supports the building of new schools makes the experience feel even more meaningful and memorable. Staying here feels good for the soul in every way.

We had an amazing stay here!! The owner, Sytha, was incredibly helpful, friendly, and accommodating, he genuinely went above and beyond to make our stay special. His English is perfect and he was always happy to help with anything we needed. The location is beautiful and picturesque right in nature and the pool is a perfect spot to relax and unwind. Being able to rent scooters on site was super convenient and made getting around really easy. Highly recommend staying here we would definitely come back!
